The Travini family’s passion for viticulture has distant origins. The great- grandfather and namesake of the current owner of the Colombarola Estate, Vittorio Travini, was already cultivating vineyards at the end of the nineteenth century, near the Torre Gandini that belonged to the family for years.
The mediaeval tower originally belonged to the Malvicini-Fontana family, then it passed into the hands of the Azzara family in the eighteenth century. It is a typical example of an impregnable military stronghold and was used to defend the “treasures” in the surrounding hills.
Today the Travini family runs the Colombarola Estate with the same spirit as their ancestors. Their dedication and care during all the stages of the production process, the use of the latest technology while respecting old traditions, enables them to obtain high-quality Tenuta Colombarola wines.
